PT BIZ UPDATE NOV 2025
Hello
You are receiving this email because you previously registered to have fiber installed to your business or workplace as part of our Port Townsend Business Fiber Project.
We are moving closer to the start of construction. Beginning the week of November 3rd, our contract engineers will begin calling to schedule visits to your business.
The purpose of the visit is to map out the route the fiber will take from the street to the side of the building. During the visit, the engineers will map locations of any known impediments. They will also need your help to identify any buried private utility lines (irrigation, propane, outdoor lighting or outlets) as well as any landscaping that cannot be disturbed. Your input ensures safe and timely installation.
This is still an early-stage task. On November 18th we will bring the project to the PUD’s Board of Commissioners to review prior to going to bid for contractors. Contractor selection is in January, and construction should begin in February. The final step, bringing the fiber inside the building, will likely begin in late April or May.
Because this project is funded by loans, we require payment of a $1,200 construction charge to cover some of the costs of building the fiber. The charge will be added to your monthly utility bill and can be paid in full or over 36 months. The construction charge is in addition to any monthly service charge and will need to be paid in full even if you cancel monthly service. We will begin assessing the $1,200 construction charge in January.
You can learn more about our monthly service options on our website. We have 1 to 10 Gig service solutions for all business sizes: home-based offices, small offices, retail and restaurants, 50-100 employees, or enterprises services for commercial or government agencies.
Internet from the PUD allows you to pick your provider. You can take monthly service directly from the PUD or one of the Qualified Service Providers operating on our network. Please note that we are not accepting monthly service requests at this time. We will send you a link to pick your monthly service package after construction is underway. If you choose to take service from a Qualified ISP, they will submit the service request on your behalf.
Thanks again for your patience. We look forward to connecting your business to some of the fastest internet in the nation next year.
