Oly Fiber/ Inbetweens Early July Update.
Hello Fiber Registrants!
We are making lots of progress on our fiber buildout. Our PUD line crews continue hanging miles of fiber on power poles, with our contractors burying it underground. We now have fiber from the base of Mt. Walker up to E. Uncas along 101 and past Eaglemount on Center Rd. By the end of July we'll have more than 400 homes with fiber installed to an outside wall. If you haven't heard from one of the contractors bringing fiber from the street to your home, you should in the coming weeks and months.
When Will I Get Internet Inside My Home?
The answer varies depending on where you live, or in which PON. We have now broken up our map into subzones called PONS. There are two large groupings of PONs: Quilcene and Gardiner. Within each groupings are the sub-PONs labeled A-H. You can view the PONS on our updated website map here.
Please note: The default map has the additional PON layers turned OFF. To view, use the layer feature on the left sidebar. You can view PON and grant areas, and see all areas where fiber has been installed, and where it's soon to be installed (though there is some lag between when its installed and when it turns green on the map).
As always, you can use the search tool to see exactly where your home falls inside the grant areas and now the PONS. Once you locate your PON, you can use the tables below to view our estimated project schedule. Note: This is an estimate.
We have had multiple delays and scheduling changes to date, as all of you are very well aware. However, we are nearing completion of mainline fiber construction in the greater Quilcene PON, and drop fiber (from street-to-home) will be soon to follow. A lot of work remains in the Gardiner PON, as is evident below. (Note: PONs vary greatly in the number of customers within, so completion times vary depending on size and number of customers).

If you haven't already, please make sure to review our monthly service offerings. Monthly internet service is available from the PUD directly, or through one of our Qualified Internet Service Providers.
Additional Notes:
If any of your neighbors haven't yet registered for Fiber there's still time. They can do so on our website. As always, homes in the purple Olympic Fiber Corridor area are still eligible for no-charge fiber installation.
In the pink InBetweens areas, we have surpassed our threshold for no-charge installs. Our grant funding only covers the first 60%. We are over 66% now. Any new sign-ups will have to pay $750. But we can take payment over 36 months with a $100 deposit if anyone needs to spread the payments out. It sounds like a lot, but as this fiber build-out is a once-in-a-generation opportunity, we highly encourage residents to take part.
After the construction project is completed, costs to install fiber will be in the $3000-$10,000 range.
Thanks again for your interest and patience. We can't wait to bring some of the fastest internet in the nation to your rural home.
